Another mission, another visit to [[_GM_1. World Almanac/World/Tovangar/Solaria/Neo/Neo]]. [[The Den]] was alive as ever, not the least of which because I was celebrating my wife’s 12th pregnancy! Normally, pirates make me push my guard up, but tonight I was feelin' like makin 'friends, not enemies.
[[Ben Blackthorne|Ben]] called us into his room and told us about what happened. Some high-society gathering had been crashed, the people robbed, and the culprits claimed they were actin’ under Ben’s orders. Ben wanted answers. So he sent us to find ‘em.
Before we could even set out, we crossed paths with a blue Dragonborn by the name of [[Raxis Thunderborn|Thorax]]. Quiet sort, but there was a spark in him. Easy to see he’d be friendly until you got on his bad side. He joined up without much fuss, and truth be told, I’m glad he did.
We made our way to the estate that’d been hit. We met the head of the house, but there was somethin’ off about him. Too stiff. Too rehearsed. [[Felicity Galloway|Felicity]] caught it first; they were impersonatin' the family.
Things turned bloody quick after that. We dropped ‘em where they stood and kept one alive for answers. The man said he’d take us straight to their rendezvous point, just north of [[Pirate Town]].
That’s where we met Voss. The head of this band of pirates and a devout follower of [[The Eyes of Ma'ii]]. Her and 30 of her followers were our welcome party.
Once we saw what we were up against, we decided that brute force may not be the best way. [[Loro]]'s quick thinking gave us a path forward. We were going to cast a spell on [[Felicity Galloway|Felicity]] and convinced their leader that we had killed Ben's daughter. This bought her trust, and we were treated to quite the party.
We spun the tale just well enough to turn their hunger toward Ben. Got ‘em all riled up, loadin’ onto their ship to solve the Ben issue once and for all. [[Characters/Merry|Merry]] sent word ahead so that the pirates wouldn’t dock to find Ben, but instead the Duke [[Oliver Maven]]'s army.
Didn’t take long before they saw the trap. Soldiers waitin’ on the shore. Panic set in, and they tried to turn the ship around—but by then, it was too late.
Merry again worked his magic, lettin’ us walk across the ocean like it was solid ground. I gave my [[immovable-rod-xdmg|Immovable Rod]] to Felicity to set it in the ship’s path. With a crack and a lurch, the sink started to take water.
By that point, the ruse was up. Arrows started flyin’, and swords started clashin’. Although the battle was far less than expected. Merry’s [[spirit-guardians-xphb|Spirit Guardians]] tore through ‘em like a holy storm.
Voss tried to flee beneath the waves, but Thorax answered with lightning, turnin’ the water itself against her. Fittin’ end, I’d say.
When it was done, the sea was quiet again, and the prisoners were freed.
We walked back to Neo, quite honestly, with nothin more than a scratch amongst the lot of us. Gotta say, this feels like a great start for [[The Heroes Guild]].
